Making Sure That You Remain Cool and Comfortable in the Summertime

Here in many parts of Australia, the summer weather can become almost unbearable. This is why so many Aussies depend so heavily on their air conditioners to keep them cool and comfortable during the long and hot summer months. Given the importance of our cooling systems, how long has it been since you had your cooling system serviced and checked out by a qualified technician?

When to Call Out an Expert to Check Over Your Air Conditioner

Most of us happily live day to day without even thinking about the health of our air conditioning systems. They simply churn away in the background, keeping us cool and comfortable at home. The problem is that they do need servicing and even repairs from time to time. The last thing that anyone wants is to have a non-working air conditioner on a 95 degree day!

So, how do you know when to call out your local technician from a company such as Direct Electrics Air Conditioning Services? Here are some common signs that you might have an air conditioning problem:

  • Noises: Every HVAC system makes some noise. It is perfectly normal for the compressor unit to make a thumping sound when it kicks in and for there to be some level of noise during operation. You might have a problem if you notice any unusual noises though. Is your unit wheezing, vibrating, or otherwise making unusual noises? It could be as simple as a loose bolt, but it could also indicate a bigger problem that needs some repair or maintenance by a qualified technician.
  • Costs: The fact is that our electricity bills are going up and up. This has been caused by a transition to renewables, but also by the profit seeking motives of private electricity companies. The problem is that your air conditioning unit could be contributing dramatically to these extra costs. We all expect our cooling to cost money during the summer, but if you are noticing any unusual spikes in your bills over and above what they usually are, it could be that your air conditioner is just not working right. Even if you don’t notice these cost spikes, it is well worth having your unit serviced just to ensure that it is not costing you any more than it needs to.
  • Inefficient: Have you noticed that it seems to take longer than usual to cool the room down? If this is the case, it could be that your HVAC unit is struggling to keep up in the hot weather and needs service or a repair.

Have Your Unit Serviced Every Year

The truth is that our HVAC units keep us pretty comfortable on the really hot days. It is a good idea to have them serviced at least once a year, before the hot weather hits, just to ensure that they are working correctly and not costing you more money than they have to.
